The first match was a friendly against Brimsdown Rovers played on 23rd July 2001. The kick-off was scheduled for 7:30 p.m., but was 15 minutes late due to the unexpectedly large crowd. It resulted in a 1-1 draw.

The first goal for Enfield Town was scored by Jamie Andrews. It was an easy tap-in set up by Danny Clarke. They were both, of course, playing in their debuts, as were all the other Enfield Town players.
